Hatfield Town Council is situated in Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council’s area. The Parish Council was established in 1894 and later became the Town Council in 1993. The population is approximately 17000 and there are 12000 electors. The Town Council is divided into four Wards—Hatfield, Hatfield Woodhouse (including Lindholme), Dunscroft and Dunsville represented by 14 elected Councillors.



The full Town Council meets on the second Monday of every month, except August. The Policy & Resources Committee and Burial & Recreation Committee meet on two or three occasions per year, with other Committees as and when required. None of the Town Councillors receive any income for their role here.



In addition to the Town Clerk (part-time) and Assistant Town Clerk (part-time), there are a Cemetery Supervisor, two Grounds Assistants and a Cleaner. Town Council staff are expected to be politically neutral.

The offices on Cuckoo Lane are open to the public between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and midday on  Mondays 10.00am to 2.00pm Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 10.00 a.m. to midday on Fridays (allowing for occasional closures due to holidays).

 Recreation Grounds

Apart from the Council Offices, the Town Council owns the Cemetery on Cemetery Road, Hatfield. It also either owns or leases Jubilee Park, Milcroft Recreation Ground, Mosscroft Recreation Ground, Station Road Recreation Ground, York Road Recreation Ground, Grange Recreation Ground, Hatfield Woodhouse Recreation Ground, Dunscroft Miners Welfare Recreation Ground, Abbey Playing Fields and Dr Waters Garden.
